MSKC MEMBER NEWS

• The MSKC is now a member club of the AKC.  After being a licensed club since 1939, we were elected as a member club at the June 2009 AKC Delegates Meeting. 

• June Jubilee was a success.  Thanks, Donna, for your hard work as well as all of the members who helped and/or participated.  There are several new CGC/TDI dogs in our area because of our tests.  Thanks to Kathy and Jo Beth for serving as certified testers.

• Don't forget that our RDOD day is coming up in September and we need all of the help that we can get.  Please help us get the word out to veterinary clinics, pet supply stores, the media, etc.  This AKC event was designed to provide the public with information regarding responsible dog ownership as well as a chance to meet various breeds and find good, ethical breeders of healthy dogs.  Education of the public is one of our club's primary concerns and benefits our local Mississippi communities.

Breed bans, breeder limitations, pet owner fees, mandatory spay/neuter and other laws removing pet owners' rights are being added to our cities and counties.  See our Canine Legislation page to help protect responsible dog owners' rights!

Have you always wanted to show a dog but need some training and advice?  Or are you an experienced handler with a show pup that needs socialization and a confidence boost?  Our Conformation classes may be the answer for you.

Obedience and Rally classes are great fun for pets and their owners.  Rally class contains the elements of basic obedience commands but makes it fun by the use of signs set up along the way instead of an instructor issuing instructions.
